How to get there

By Plane:

the most convenient airports are Erfurt-WeimarExterner Link and Halle-LeipzigExterner Link – from Erfurt it is about half an hour by (direct) train from Erfurt main station, from Leipzig an hour and a half (take the train at the Leipzig-Halle airport station to Leipzig main station and then take a direct train to Jena). It is also possible to fly to Berlin, Munich or Frankfurt, but then it takes about 3 to 4 hours by train to get to Jena.

By Train:

Both the ICE line Frankfurt- Erfurt and Munich-Berlin bring you close to Jena (change at Erfurt onto a local train, which takes only another 30 minutes to bring you to Jena West or Jena Paradies). See also www.db.deExterner Link. Upon arrival at either Jena Paradiesbahnhof or Jena West, head towards the Intershop Tower (simply the most prominent building in town) and you are in the midst of things.

Getting around in Jena:

Jena itself is very small – the locals actually consider only the square mile that was within the medieval city walls as ‚Jena‘ proper. The university campus, the main building, the restaurant Zur Noll and most of the hotels are all within 5 to 10 minutes (or less) walking distance from each other.
