In the practical language courses of the Department of English and American Studies, the students build on the skills and knowledge that they bring with them and develop their abilities to express themselves in both written and spoken contexts. The courses aim to enable the students to use the language in a competent, natural, and near-native way, and the courses are taught be instructors that cover a wide range of varieties of English. In this way, the students become acquainted with various types of English during their studies. Even though everyday English plays a significant role in the courses, a special emphasis is placed on the students developing their academic and analytical use of the language so that they are equipped to confidently navigate any sort of communicative situation. Below you will find a brief overview of some of the courses that are offered in the Language Practice section of the English department.
