Our research and teaching agendas examine US-American and Canadian literature and culture as well as questions of Comparative North American Studies, and Transnational American Studies that are, e.g., related to:
- national myths and imaginaries
- space/place and identity
- gender studies
- popular culture
- ecocriticism and the Anthropocene
- transatlantic Romanticism
Next to the American Studies team, we welcome guest professors from the US and Canada and work closely with FSU’s North American History and Political Science/History of Ideas departments in our joint master program North American Studies.
