The Institute of English and American Studies offers its students not only a very high level of academic content, but also a lot of extracurricular Institutional activities.
Every year, our dedicated student council organizes so-called Christmas Readings, where lecturers read poems, short stories, novel excerpts, and other texts to students over mulled wine and cookies. These texts are often Christmas-related, but in any case they are funny or touching.
In addition, the student council, together with our Scottish colleague, Dr. Liston, organizes dance evenings once a semester (called ceilidhs in Scottish), where you quickly learn that you don’t have to know how to dance and that fun and socializing come first. Those who don’t like dancing can enjoy cheap drinks, lots of kilts, and live music on the bagpipes.
All of these activities (and more) are announced via MoodleExternal link in the course room called The HubExternal link so that as many students as possible can participate in the events.
